Charter Schools need to be careful about navigating the waters regarding Special Education as well as English Language Learners ... but what exactly is required when those two issues overlap? When educating ELLs who seem to be struggling, how do you know when it is time to think about a special education referral? This session will identify the 5 pitfalls to avoid in creating an over representation of ELLs in your school site’s special education department. The webinar will be presented by Liliana Salazar, the National Director of Special Education and Student Support for Academica.

Our Website Is Changing
We're excited to announce that we've moving our website.  Our new website address will be: https://charter.support/, or just Charter.Support.  The new site is easier to navigate, has better search features, and is setup to allow us to begin serving school in additional states than Florida.  All of the resources on our old site have already been moved over to the new site.  In the near future, the old domain will automatically begin forwarding to the new site.  Please update any bookmarks you may have to our old address.  Website Service Logo

Training For New Charter Schools
New School Institute Logo

We are excited to kick off our regular, every-other-week schedule for the New School Institute starting next Tuesday, January 8 at 8pm.  As a reminder, the New School Institute is a service targeted towards groups who have an approved charter contract, and are working to open their schools in the coming months.  Each meeting will be centered around a specific topic, and allow for a presentation and conversation among the participants to help you open your school successfully.

The topic for January 8 will be Hiring a Principal, as well as a brief look at Securing your Facilities. We will talk about timelines and processes you may want to consider as you start your search for the most important hire your school will make, the Principal.  This is a crucially important step, and the sooner you can afford to make this step the better.  In addition, we will spend some time talking about some considerations to keep in mind as you are finalizing your leases or facilities needs.

While it is not required to RSVP, we encourage you to do so, as we will send out a reminder to those who do the day of the presentation.  You can RSVP on our website at: https://charter.support/presentation/2019-01-08/.  We will be utilizing Go To Meeting to conduct the meetings, and you will be able to access the meeting directly by going to: https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/736756021.
