New! Updated Policy Manual!

The Charter Support Unit is excited to announce the release of our updated Sample Florida Charter School Policy Manual. This is a comprehensive policy manual that charter schools can use as a guide to develop their own policies at their individual schools.

We have put a lot of time into making it as complete as possible, so that school leaders can use this as a starting place for the development of their own policies. We even went so far as to hire attorney Jeff Wood and his associates at Tripp Scott to review the entire document to ensure it was in compliance with state and federal requirements.

The manual contains everything from employment policies to business and accounting policies, to school operations, transportation, and more. The manual can be found at: https://charter.support/document/policy-manual/

This is one of the many no-cost services that the Charter Support Unit is able to provide to schools thanks to the generous support of the Charter Schools Planning grant through the Florida Department of Education.

In addition, we also offer free document review services to charter schools who are in their first charter contract. If you have a policy manual, employee handbook, or other documents you would like us to look at, just reach out to Curtis Fuller at cfuller@charter.support and we would be happy to assist at no-cost to your school.

The Charter Support Unit has had a sample policy manual available for schools to use since 2013. A new version of the manual was just completed and released. The update includes many policies related to statutory requirements (such as the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas Act), and reorganizes the structure of the manual. The entire manual has also undergone a legal review to ensure compliance. To help schools understand the updates to the new manual, we will be hosting a webinar on Thursday, July 1 at 10:00am where we will review the key changes and updates to the policy manual. The webinar will be hosted by attorney Jeff Wood of Tripp Scott and Curtis Fuller of the Charter Support Unit. Join us to learn about the updates, and bring the questions you have about what policies your school needs to ensure compliance with Florida statutes.
